Google Ads conversion tracking: calls, bookings and orders

Tansik counts calls from your ads, uploads bookings to your Google Ads account and sends form and order events from your site, without you touching code.

Clicks alone don't tell you much. You can pay for a hundred clicks and not know whether anyone called or booked. A conversion is the moment a visitor becomes a customer: a call, a booking, a form sent or an order placed. When Google knows about these moments, it can steer your budget towards the clicks that actually bring customers, especially if you bid to maximise conversions.

On Tansik much of this happens by itself. Here is what is tracked, and how.

Calls from call campaigns

When you launch a Google call campaign from Tansik, your phone number is attached to the ad and Tansik creates a conversion action in your account called "Calls from ads (Tansik)". It counts calls from the ad that last at least a minute, so a wrong number that hangs up after a few seconds isn't counted.

You don't set anything up yourself: the action is created once per account and your call campaigns use it.

Bookings that come from the ad

If your business runs on appointments, as clinics, salons and consultants do, what matters is the booking, not the call. That is what booking campaigns are for:

  1. When a visitor reaches your site from your ad, the site keeps the click id that Google adds to the link.
  2. If they book through your bookings system, Tansik records the booking as a conversion tied to that click.
  3. Tansik uploads the conversion to your Google Ads account in the background, through Google's Data Manager API, under an action called "Bookings (Tansik)".

One conversion is counted per click, and Google accepts clicks up to 90 days old. For uploads to work, accept the conversion upload permission when you connect Google. If you don't, your campaign still runs and its calls are still counted, but bookings won't reach Google until you reconnect and accept it.

Your site's events: forms, contact taps and orders

Alongside what Tansik uploads, you can track what happens on your site with the Google tag. In the tracking settings under analytics, paste the code Google gave you; Tansik reads the ids out of it, and you pick the conversion action for each event:

  • Lead: when a form on your site is sent.
  • Contact: when a visitor taps call, WhatsApp or email.
  • Purchase: when an order is placed in your store, with its amount.
  • Booking: when an appointment is booked.

Your site sends these events itself when they really happen, with no custom code. The same events also go to Google Analytics and to the Meta, TikTok and Snapchat pixels if you add them.

Avoid counting twice

A common mistake is two primary actions counting the same thing, such as the site tag for bookings and the booking upload together, so Google thinks you have twice the bookings and bids on that basis. The AI assistant can review the conversion setup in your account and point out:

  • Two primary actions counting the same thing.
  • A site event that points at no action in the account, so it is sent but counted nowhere.
  • Uploaded conversions waiting for a Google permission.

It can also make an action primary or secondary when you ask.

What to do with the numbers

Once conversions are clear, decisions get easier: which areas bring calls, which keywords deserve the budget, and when to move from maximising clicks to maximising conversions. Calls, clicks and cost are in your dashboard; more in the analytics dashboard.

Get started

Connect Google from the Google Ads page and accept the conversion upload permission, then add the Google tag in the tracking settings. Plans are on the home page.

Questions

Do I need a developer to add the Google tag?

No. Paste the code Google gave you in the tracking settings and Tansik reads the ids, or ask the assistant to set it up.

Why don't bookings show in Google Ads?

Usually the conversion upload permission wasn't granted when Google was connected. Reconnect from the Ads page and accept it.

Is every call from the ad counted?

Calls that last at least a minute are counted, so short or wrong calls are left out.
