SEO for small businesses: a practical guide

Run the SEO check on your site, fix the most important problems first with AI or by hand, add useful content, then follow your visitors in analytics.

Search engine optimisation (SEO) sounds to many people like a world of jargon. For a small business owner the core is simple: Google should understand what you offer, and your pages should be fast and useful to whoever is searching. Nobody can guarantee you the first page, because ranking is Google's decision, but you can remove what holds you back and give Google what it needs to understand your site.

On Tansik you start from your site's SEO page. Here is how.

Step one: run the SEO check

The check gives your site a score out of 100 and lists the problems a search engine, or a visitor arriving from one, might notice, ordered by how much they matter:

  • High: the site isn't published, is hidden from search engines, or has a robots.txt that blocks every page. Fix these first, as they can stop you appearing at all.
  • Medium: pages or articles with no search description, thin pages, the same title on two pages, images with no alt text, and products with no description.
  • Low: descriptions that are too long or too short, long titles, very large images, a missing logo or site icon, and articles with no cover image.

Start with the red ones, then move down.

Step two: fix it with AI

What small sites miss most often are page descriptions and image alt text. The check has a "Fix with AI" button for both:

  • Search description: the line under your title in Google's results, written for each page from its content.
  • Image alt text: a short description of the image that helps search engines and screen readers.

They are written in your site's languages, and you review them before they go live. Thin pages need real content from you: what you offer, for whom, where, and why customers choose you.

What your site already does for you

Some technical SEO basics are built into every Tansik site:

  • A sitemap and robots.txt that help Google discover your pages.
  • Arabic and English versions linked for Google, so each searcher sees their language. More in the bilingual website.
  • Fast pages and images in modern formats on every device.
  • Your own domain with a security certificate, as in custom domain and SSL.

You can hide a site from search for a while in its settings, and the check reminds you so you don't forget.

Step three: content that answers your customers' questions

People search with questions: "how much does garden landscaping cost?", "best time to service an air conditioner". Every article that answers a real question in your field is another chance for someone to find you. That's why Tansik gives your site a blog where the AI writes full articles in your site's languages, on a schedule you set, arriving as drafts for your review. See how in AI blog articles.

Quick content tips:

  1. One page for each main service, with clear text about it.
  2. Mention your city and service areas naturally in the text.
  3. A different title for every page; duplicate titles confuse Google.

Step four: follow the results

SEO takes time, and when your site appears depends on Google. But you can watch the trend: analytics shows your visitors, their sources and the pages they land on, without cookies. If search starts bringing visitors to a page, write more on that topic.

If you want results sooner while your search presence grows, Google Ads complements SEO, as in Google call ads.

Get started

Open the SEO page in your site's dashboard, run the check now and fix the red problems first. If you don't have a site yet, plans are on the home page.

Questions

How long until Google shows my site?

That depends on Google. A sitemap and good descriptions help it find and understand your pages sooner, but nobody can guarantee a ranking.

Does the AI publish descriptions without my review?

No. You review what it writes before it goes live, and you can edit it.

Do I need an SEO expert?

For most small businesses the check and its fixes are enough, together with useful content about your services.
